Individual or small groups

Conversation Partner

As a conversation partner, you play a crucial role in facilitating language practice for refugees through regular meetings in the comfort of their homes or within the community, fostering a supportive environment for effective language development.

Volunteers will be paired with a client and together they will coordinate a weekly time and location for one-on-one meetings to practice English.

Minimum six-month commitment and must be 19 years and older to volunteer.

Groups of 5 to 10 people

Community Support Teams

As a community support team, you’ll work alongside CIRA staff to help a refugee family thrive in their new home. This opportunity is more than just providing support- it’s about building relationships and offering a true sense of community.

Your team will make a profound impact by helping a family feel welcomed, supported, and empowered.

Potential areas of support include:

  • Setting up their home with essential furnishings and supplies
  • Accompanying the family to health appointments
  • Assisting with education and ESL support
  • Helping with cultural adjustment and community connections
  • Offering guidance in job searches and employment opportunities
  • Attending meetings with the family’s case manager
  • Minimum 6-month commitment
  • Must be 19 years or older
  • Background check required

Provide Legal Assistance

CIRA is seeking dedicated pro bono attorneys, DOJ-accredited representatives, and volunteers to support immigrants in need of legal representation.

Community Event Booth Volunteer

As a Community Event Booth Volunteer, you’ll be at the heart of exciting community engagement events and celebrations, bringing CIRA’s mission to life!

Work alongside a CIRA representative to share our mission, highlight our services, and inspire community involvement.

You’ll engage with attendees through interactive activities like trivia games and prize wheels, all while soaking in the energy of local festivals, fairs, and gatherings.

Help us spread the word about CIRA’s impactful programs and volunteer opportunities in a fun and dynamic setting.

Volunteer Info Sessions

Attend our monthly information sessions to discover more about us, our work, and the latest volunteer opportunities!

Information sessions take place on the first Wednesday of each month, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at our 4223 Center Street location.

To empower immigrants and refugees to live confidently through high-quality legal representation, resettlement, and social work and to create welcoming communities through education and advocacy.
