Introducing CIRA: A New Chapter for ILC+REC

In 2022, Immigrant Legal Center and Refugee Empowerment Center merged. After many meetings, feedback sessions, research, reflection, and effort, we’re excited to announce that our combined nonprofit organization is now called CIRA (the Center for Immigrant & Refugee Advancement).

For more than 25 years, Immigrant Legal Center and Refugee Empowerment Center have individually helped thousands of immigrants and refugees advance toward their goals. Together as CIRA, we will continue this important work as a unified organization.

While you will most often hear CIRA pronounced as “seer-rah,” we welcome all pronunciations. CIRA will continue to offer the same services as before, including compassionate refugee services, expert legal representation, and comprehensive social work.

We are thrilled to announce not only our new name, CIRA, but also the launch of an entirely new brand, as seen on this very newsletter. Our new brand identity includes an amber logo which symbolizes the non-linear journeys our clients, employees, and communities take to find refuge and new beginnings. Our new brand colors draw from textiles and fabrics from across the globe, representing the preservation and celebration of many cultures.
