When we first met Sara, she was living in fear that she’d be forced to leave her small Nebraska town.
Like many of our immigrant and refugee neighbors, she was feeling more and more isolated. Without legal status and struggling to find Spanish-language resources, even reaching out felt impossible.
But Sara’s story didn’t end there.
The Center for Immigrant and Refugee Advancement’s (CIRA) legal team guided her through the asylum process, helping her secure a work permit. When past trauma made it difficult to share details for her case, our social workers provided support.
Despite tough odds, Sara was granted asylum. And through our employment program, she received additional support to build a stable future for her family.
Right now, tens of thousands of Nebraskans are at risk of deportation – most without legal representation.
Like Sara, we refuse to give up hope.
Your year-end tax-deductible gift ensures we can help more people like Sara in 2025.
