OMAHA, Neb. — The Center for Immigrant and Refugee Advancement (CIRA) has been awarded $65,000 through the United Way of the Midlands’ 2026-2028 Community Impact Fund to expand support for refugees and immigrant children and families in Omaha.

The funding includes $25,000 for CIRA’s Refugee Intensive Case Management program, which helps refugees with significant medical, mental health, and other complex needs access care and build stability. An additional $40,000 will support CIRA’s Immigrant Children and Families program, which provides integrated legal and social work services to children and families navigating the impacts of immigration enforcement and rapidly changing immigration policies.

“These investments strengthen our ability to meet families where they are and provide the support they need to move forward,” CIRA Director of Development Rose Margrave said. “As more families face complex challenges, this funding helps ensure children, refugees, and other vulnerable community members have access to the legal, social work, and case management services they need to remain safe and stable.”

The grants were awarded through United Way of the Midlands’ Community Impact Fund, which invests in programs that improve health, education, financial stability, and basic needs across the region. The funding was recommended by community volunteers who reviewed applications and identified programs with the greatest potential to create lasting impact.
